We use no herbicides on our plants. All of our products are not derived from or contain any Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Our plants are hand-weeded. Our greenhouse sprays are Azitin (a Neem-oil derivative), and Botaniguard (a baccillus - a naturally occurring bacteria). Our spray for the orchard, when necessary, is Surround (clay-based) and copper hydroxide for prunus and grapes. Our spray schedule is from observation and prevention. We do not spray blindly on a routine schedule, but cultivate our plants to harmonize with nature.

We have been paying a living wage for over 1 year. You may see some price changes and you will notice the new pricing on shipping. We have found to stay competitive we needed to make a few adjustments. We are sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause. If the ship price is out of line, we will refund, we want to stay fair.

You can buy trees, shrubs, herbs, and an array of garden plants on this site or pickup directly from our fruit tree and garden nursery.  When you buy plants from Edible Landscaping, potted plants will be shipped directly to you, avoiding the shock that can occur from bare root plants. We ship year round and grow our plants naturally without herbicides or harsh chemicals. Many of our plants are florist grade and make great gifts. The live plants you receive from us will be in the absolute best condition of any plants online! If you wish to pick up your order, make a note in the comments field of the order and we'll take off the ship cost when we process the order.

To start looking through the plants that we offer choose one of the links in the green bar at the top of the page. The Buy Plants feature helps you find plants in categories. With the Show All Plants  feature you can scroll thru our collection of offerings one by one. We have an advanced search feature which is making use of part of the extensive list of attributes that we have put together for our plants. We hope that these will guide you in making an informed decision about the plants you are interested in. To the beginner, remember, the popular fruits in stores are grown by professionals and will not perform well in a home planting with little or no care. We strive to correct that misconception by offering plants that grow and produce with less care. We are also working to expand the care guides and detailed plant descriptions to provide even more information. Our varieties are selected for your enjoyment and generations to come. We propagate our plants by grafting, budding, seed, divisions, and cuttings. We also represent the finest wholesale nurseries such as Dave Wilson, Briggs, Northwoods, Starks, Hartmanns, Agri-starts, North American Plants, Fall Creek, Spring Meadow and L.E.Cooke. Our stock plant orchard is fun and an education, please visit. All comments, opinions & suggestions on this website are welcome at: webmaster@ediblelandscaping.com. Thanks and happy planting!

A note from a client:

Thanks so much for making the trip Michael.  What a fantastic presentation.  It is
going to be hard to ever top it!
Thanks again so much.  I will give you a heads up when we come for our shopping
outing, esp. if we are a crowd.

Hi, I just wanted to write to tell you  how impressed I am with the quality of the plants I received from you last week. I don't usually do this (OK, pretty much never), but it was obvious that these plants were incredibly well cared for during the start-up phase. I ordered Lingonberries and was expecting a couple of sticks in a bag of dirt, like the blueberry bushes for sale at the big box hardware stores. What I received were two beautiful, small and perfect shrubs. The leaves were shiny and there was no breakage of any of the branches, so I know the packing was very carefully done. The roots were in great shape and not at all root bound and there were even flowers on one plant, which I hadn't expected for at least a year. Although I don't expect these plants to do anything this first year but get established and adjusted to their new environment, I am very hopeful that I will be able to keep them healthy, which is so much easier when you start with a healthy plant to begin with. I don't have a lot of garden space for fruit-bearing shrubs and trees, but you will be the first place I check when I do need new plants of this sort. Thank You.

Dear Michael, Thanks so much for coming to speak to the Darne Bloomers. Keep it under your hat - but you were the best speaker we've had in my years of being a member. And I know that's not just my opinion - often people will slip out the back if a talk goes on, but you had everyone gled to their seats!  We would love to get a group together for a trip to your nursery in the late spring/early summer. Thanks again. SA, Darnestown MD.

Hi Michael and everyone else at Edible Landscaping,

I just visited last weekend for the Persimmon Festival and really enjoyed seeing your orchard and taking the tour of the Persimmon trees (there's a Persimmon Tree Lane in my neighborhood in Maryland but I don't think we have any persimmon trees in the neighborhood).  I also wanted to thank George for the tour of the medicinal plants.  I hope to have a chance to come back someday and buy some trees when I have a place to put them.  I think what you are doing is wonderful and maybe if we have more companies like Edible Landscapes the world will become a better place. From M. S. in MD

A note from a client:
"By the way, I really appreciate your philosophy of identifying and carrying plants that are comparatively easy (e.g. disease resistant) for home gardeners to grow. I have been looking into putting in a mini-orchard and one of the things I figured out fairly quickly was that getting the standard varieties of fruit to do well in my garden would involve a huge amount of spraying with pesticides, etc. It's refreshing to find someone who wants to help would-be home orchardists take an approach that actually has a good chance of success. Keep up the good work!" from A. S. in TN

A recent lecture for the Dunes of Dare Garden Club received this response;
"Hi Michael, I honestly think you presented the best program I have ever seen at the Dunes of Dare Garden Club last Thursday, and I also know it was the largest audience I have ever seen.  It was a perfect program informative and entertaining and your visuals were terrific  the slides as well as the live plants. The reviews from our members were overwhelmingly positive. What a wonderful way to begin our season!"

Greetings most brilliant Heritage Harvest Festival collaborators,
It is with true, heartfelt gratitude that I say "thank you" for all that you are and all that you did to create the most incredible array of people and projects around the ideas of seed-saving, heirloom and heritage plants, local food and culinary arts, agrarian history, traditional skills, animal husbandry, urban gardening, sustainable agriculture, community resilience, on and on .. for the Heritage Harvest Festival this past Saturday. You all, indeed, were the stars of the show and it is to you that I raise a virtual toast (it is true I have a glass of fizzy kefir spritzer here, I cannot lie)! I sit here in awe of what you do and who you are and consider it an honor to be surrounded by such ingenious, compassionate and forward-thinking people. Thomas Jefferson surely would approve! J

Please keep doing what you are doing and know that you are paving the way for creative solutions toward an emerging new way of living in balance and harmony upon our dear planet.

Thanks again, so much, and I look forward to our next adventures.

Dawn S.

Good Afternoon,
I am one delighted happy customer! I received all the plants I ordered yesterday in perfect condition, thanks to incredible packaging. And they are right on time, because it rained last night and supposed to for a couple of days. Your company is incredible and I am a very pleased customer! I will pass the word, because I know it is the best form of advertisement.
Thanks a million!
Sharon L
